DW? Or TT?
I got some new slippers yesterday to usher in the cold weather. Not that it's actually cold yet (in fact, the weather is great, mid-60s or higher every day), but surely at some point soon there will be a need for fluffy pink slippers with flecks of silver and a Hello Kitty wearing a pink satin bow with rhinestone buckle. Right? I was pretty happy to find them right at the moment when I was thinking "Hmm, feels like it's time to get the new winter slippers" but stopped short this morning when I cut off the tags. Because these are apparently a girls' size large. As in the under-18 set. As in the under-12 set. I was so disdainful of Hello Kitty as a tween, never understanding that huge Sanrio section in the creepily ill-lit basement of the Macy's in the Walt Whitman mall.* Or why you'd want your eraser to smell like bubble gum if you couldn't eat it. And here I am now, in my late-mid-thirties, prancing around the house in fluffy pink kitty slippers. I can't decide if this makes me delightfully wacky or a total tardo. Kinda leaning toward the latter, though...
* Yes, I knew him as a mall long before I knew him as a libidinous pro-lilac poet.

I vote Delightfully Wacky. I am smack-dab in my mid-thirties, and I'm very pro-Sanrio, as you well know. I've long been a Keroppi gal myself, but am also partial to Batz-Maru and Pekkle. I'm so conflicted about all things Japanese, and Sanrio cutesiness just mixes right into it all.
Well, Miss J., what with people not able to read the Japanese signs for your Halloween costume, and not quite seeing your self-proclaimed resemblance to Keroppi, it's easy to see how you could feel conflicted. I got a phone vote last night for DW, so this makes two. Which is good, though it does point out that my friends are a pretty self-selecting group.
I think they are very cute, but I am more a fan of non-representational slippers.
